Large scale projects demand cost containment, speed to market, efficiency, safety and accountability – these are the deliverables we live by at the Kiely Family of Companies, and our Design-Build services are unrivaled in delivering just that.
In early 2017, a challenge was issued by the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority (TRWRA). The Kiely Family of Companies answered with unparalleled design-build services.
Project Lead: David J. Applegate, PE, CME, T3, W3 Sr. Vice President of Water Resources
Budget: $100,000
Final Cost: $80,000
Start Date: July 2017
Projected Finish: August 2017
Completion Date: July 2017
Scope
Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority reached out to the Kiely Family of Companies with a specific task: change out three, 16” plug valves at sewage Pump Station No. 12.
Challenges
Logistically, this project involved two major motions:
- Provide lifting access from the bottom of the station’s 30’ deep dry well.
- De-weight the existing 24” DIP force main header that sits over top of the three plug valves so they could be replaced.
Solution
To effect the necessary sling and lifting points, we proposed a design-build solution that provided the TRWRA five I-beam gantries within the dry well of PS 12. Four of the gantries ran width-wise across the dry well, and the fifth ran length-wise, all being located sufficiently above the existing 24” header.
